Extension Types

Kitchen Extensions

A generous open-plan kitchen has become the epicentre for modern living, and SIP Panel kitchen extensions are the ideal way to enlarge your existing kitchen. Not only will this extension provide the additional space you require, it will also add value to your property.

Remodelling an existing kitchen within the available space always calls for compromises. But a kitchen extension allows you to decide how much space you really need, and to accommodate those latest innovations such as an island or breakfast bar. Our kitchen extensions also provide a greater supply of natural light, creating an airy feel where previously the space may have been dark and uninviting.

Bedroom Extensions

There often comes a point where a family simply needs more space in the home, but moving to another property is not a practical solution. This may be due to having to accommodate more family members, whether additional children or a relative in need of regular care. In which case, improving the house by adding a bedroom extension is often the most cost-effective solution.

SIP Panel bedroom extensions are not restricted to ground floor applications, but can be used to extend at first floor level over an existing single-story structure that has adequate foundations. This is possible because a lot of the component parts are manufactured using state-of-the-art lightweight materials, and can help to transform a home where there is limited garden space to expand into.

Rear Extensions

There is no doubt that the most practical area to expand a house is into the garden space to the rear. This may be to create some working space for a hobby, or perhaps due to a switch in work priorities away from travelling to the office in favour of working at home. Adding modern ground-floor rear home extensions can be the answer to such scenarios, because they can essentially be designed exactly to the user’s needs.

One of the most popular reasons for rear home extensions is to create a garden room, essentially connecting the interior of the house to the exterior garden space. A SIP panel extension is ideal for this type of application, as it can be designed to incorporate other innovations such as Bi-Fold Doors that can open-up a full side to the exterior allowing seamless movement between the conservatory and patio areas.

    Conservatory Extensions

For more than fifty years, conservatories have been the most popular method of extending a private house. They were relatively simple to design and install, took advantage of simpler planning regulations, and consequently were not as expensive to construct as a traditional brick and tile extension.

However, traditional conservatories suffer from two major drawbacks – their insulation efficiency is compromised by the amount of glazed area, making them cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and their construction means that design variations are somewhat limited. Today, home-owners are looking not only for something a bit more special in design, but also for cost-effectiveness in both build and running costs.

Whether you are looking for a traditional-style conservatory extension, orangery, or to create a garden room connecting the interior of the house to the exterior garden space, a SIP panel conservatory extension is ideal. It not only takes advantage of the simplified planning processes afforded by modular construction, but enables the use of modern materials greatly enhancing the insulation efficiency of these extensions.

    Living Room Extensions

Remodelling an existing living room within the available space always calls for compromises. Living room extensions allow you to decide how much space you really need, and to allocate it to those different usages that modern families put it to. With a larger living space it is possible to accommodate both sitting and dining areas, or a quiet area for reading away from a more lively area of the home.

It can also be designed to incorporate other innovations such as Bi-Fold Doors to open-up a full side to the exterior allowing seamless movement between the interior living space and external patio areas. These doors incorporate the same insulation efficiencies as the walls, so that when they are closed the interior retains its heat during the winter months, whilst the full-glazing allows the same panoramic garden view as when they are open.

    Utility Extensions

A generous open-plan kitchen has become the epicentre for modern living, but it is not always possible to remodel an existing kitchen within the available space and retain all of the necessary equipment of modern living. Adding utility room extensions alongside the kitchen allows you to remove some large white goods items, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, freezers, etc, and thus create more space for remodelling the existing kitchen area to accommodate those latest innovations such as an island or breakfast bar.

Or you may just need some extra space behind the garage for an office where you can get away from the hubbub of family life and concentrate on working from home, or to create a workshop for that hobby that is beginning to expand into a lifestyle choice.

How Can they Solve My Problem?

NECS Extensions are built using SIP Panels and are fabricated off site, then delivered and erected within two to three weeks, avoiding the chaos and upheaval of having builders on site for months on end. Being of modular construction, they come with insulated roof and walls, double-glazed windows and strong, steel-reinforced structures, and are an affordable alternative to a traditional brick-built structures. We can match your existing brick, render or stone walls as well as the roof tiles, so the completed room matches the rest of your house.

    Efficiency

Our extensions utilise the Kingspan TEK® Building System for the walls, which has environmental sustainability at its core.

The insulation layer is not interrupted by repeating stud work, so there is less repeating thermal bridging, yielding better thermal performance. The SIP panels are certified to BES 6001 (Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products) as `Very Good’.

For roofs we use the Guardian Warm Roof system, which is fully tested and approved to all thermal and structural standards. This high performance insulated roof system comprises of a pre-engineered lightweight frame, two layers of rigid insulation board, internal insulated plasterboard, exterior grade plywood and a vapour membrane.
